Photo Cards

18 August 2010

What started as a small side business has evolved to the extent that I now do more photocards than regular design jobs. These are some that I’ve done for my own family.

The Making of a Photo Card

8 September 2008 at 2:45pm

I recently finished an invite for my nephew Hayden’s birthday party, and I thought I would show you all the parts that make up a design….

So thats

Old paper

Old paper

Some old paper that I found on Google Images;

Sheriff's Badge

Sheriff

 A Sheriff’s badge (Deep-etched – That’s where I take out all the background, quite a tedious process). I played around with two until I chose this one;

More old paper

More old paper

Some more old paper (also Google Images) that I placed on a black square;

Hayden

Hayden

Hayden (Deep-etched);

Cowboy hat

Cowboy hat

A Cowboy hat (Deep-etched) – I tried two different hats before I used this one, I had to find one that looked right on his head;

Rope

Rope

Some rope (Deep-etched) – you can just see it in the foreground, as Hayden, the hat and the rope have been covered with a light transparency;

Then, of course, choose some Western-type fonts and Voila!

Well, they liked it… :)

    Just thought I would comment and say awesome theme, did you code it on your own? Really looks excellent!

      Wow, thanks Brent – that is high praise indeed, especially since I don’t know what “code it” even means…. :) It’s all WordPress but thanks for the compliment.
